Claire obtained her LLB Degree from the University of Pretoria in 2014, due to her academic achievements, she was placed on the Dean’s Merits List during 2013 as well as 2014. She joined the Firm during January 2015 as a candidate attorney. She was been placed in our Residential Property Department when she joined the Firm and has branched into other fields of property law post admission, including Retail and Commercial property law. Claire was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa during 2017 and continued to hone her skills and experience as a formidable litigation Attorney, attending regularly to appearances of both opposed and unopposed motion hearings in the High Court and the Magistrates Court alike.
Claire’s passion and strengths lie in eviction procedure in terms of the Prevention of Illegal Evictions from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act No. 19 of 1998 (PIE Act), and more broadly, in terms of most other statutes relevant to property rights, including Consumer Protection law as it relates to letting of property, laws applicable to residential letting of property in terms of the Rental Housing Act and the Regulations thereto, and laws relevant to the rights and duties of Property Practitioners. Her substantive knowledge of Court procedure and practice coupled with her expertise in property law and evictions gives assurance that the rights of property owners are realised expeditiously and professionally.
Claire is currently heading and leading her own team in SSLR, this team is a formidable all female team dealing with evictions and other property related evictions.
